APPLE'S LOVE IT OR HATE IT handset continues grow despite qualms about build quality, dodgy chip-sets and connection reliability.
The latest figures for web penetration collected by Net Applications show that a startling one in every 333 web connections in August was made using and Iphone. That's 0.3 per cent which, in most circumstances isn't much of a chunk, but in this context is huge.
And that's an average figure for the month. The penetration reportedly peaked at 0.5 per cent on August 23rd for some unexplained reason.
We suspect the data was collected using the usual anal list formula of 'think of a number, multiply it by my hat size, then add a couple of zeroes for good measure' but numbers make the world go around... even if they are made up. µ

My N95 now shows up in that category too. The Beeb see fit to allow Iphones to access their Iplayer, but not my little handset (which is perfectly capable of dealing with flash, 3gp, rm streams, etc). I guess it doesn't have enough letters in common with "Iplayer". Some people have taken to changing their user-agent to get access to the goodies online by masquerading as an Iphone. It's interesting to see that Google presents a different site to Iphone requests. On the good side, The BBC's news website doesn't try to herd me onto it's cut-down mobile edition any more!
