Intel slashes processor prices

Cheaper chips

CHIP MAKING GIANT Intel has slashed processor prices by up to 31 per cent. Price cuts include the quad-core Q6600, down from $224 to $193, while the desktop Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16GHz) now sells for $183 instead of $266. The Core 2 Duo E7200 (2.53GHz) has been reduced by 15 percent, from $133 to $113.

Although Xeon server processor price points have been lowered, the cost of QX Extreme processors, such as the QX9775 (3.2GHz, $1,499), remain unchanged.

Netbook versus desktop
The Intel Atom netbook microprocessor is still listed as 52 percent more per chip than the desktop version. Indeed, the Atom N270 – the mini-laptop version of the microprocessor – costs $44, compared to $29 for the desktop Atom 230.

Desktop systems often allow excess heat to dissipate via secondary cooling systems, so the 230 is manufactured using less expensive, heat-sensitive material. Nevertheless, the Asustek desktop Eee Box features an Atom N270 microprocessor. µ

Comments

New Products Caused Price Disparity.

Late Last Week, Intel announced 3 new processors. Mostly Step Down in Speed & NOT Much, Until upon close Inspection, it became clear some of Intel Roundup was seriously priced wrong in comparision. So Readjustment.

Asus has new TOP main coming in few weeks, it was tested under Nitro & NEW High core of 710 Mhz/s & Memory 2.5 Ghz/s was reached. Nothing NOT Already announced, except it must work pretty darn good. Its R.O.G. Board.

Now World Needs To Keep Up in its add-on Hardware? Well, if Your NitroNUT.

Drop dead, Drashek - Please?

Why don't you die now, Drashek?

You are seriously getting on my tits!

What 'Bertho' says about Darwin's rule of the immanent demise of the stupid should surely apply to you?

Don’t you have a Sat-Nav connected to that god damn computer of yours? I really hope so… perhaps it will make you take a sharp right turn off a cliff…

P.S. you seem to read and comment on everything on the internet, don’t you? Why don’t you read some of the other comments people write about you and how much pain and terrible suffering you cause us when we have to read the utter crap you post.

I am now going to visit my bank to ask for a £10,000 ($20,000) loan to give the inquirer in return for your IP address so I can hunt you down. To persuade them, I have printed out some of the nightmares you have posted. My only hope is that they don’t throw me out, asking the security guards on the door to beat me to death for daring to put them through what we have to endure.

Yours most unhappily,

Yeah Right

E8500 (3.16GHz) now sells for $183 instead of $266...

What a load of B.S. outright...

I got one question for you: WHERE???

If you say "eBay" you deserve to be slapped like a naked chicken. If you say "well if you're NewEgg and you purchase 1000 of them" then you just ought to boiled alive.

Now once again, go ahead and tell ALL OF YOUR READERS exactly WHERE they can purchase a brand new e8500 for $183.00...I DARE YOU.

@Dave The (Ultie_Hater) Rave

You don't have to read his comment.

Here's what I do: Skim through the feedback looking for comments that end with "drashek". Then mentally ignore them.

No, don't read or respond to his comments. The more you respond, the more you give him attention, and the more he'll keep doing it. (You're justifying his behaviour if you acknowledge him).

So if you ignore him, he'll eventually go away. Its the same tactic I use with trolls.

In both cases, their objective is to crave attention on the web because their lives in the real world are much on the down side (ie: pathetic).

Remember, you have the power to choose what you want to do here. So choosing NOT to acknowledge "drashek" is a far more effective weapon than to be continually annoyed by him.

As for the price slashing of Intel CPUs, that's good to hear. But I think I'll hold out until Nehalem hits the shelves far and wide. (waiting patiently for an affordable 3.2Ghz solution...It should be quite an upgrade to my current Sempron 1.6Ghz!).

Not quite $183

Buy.com has it for $193.

disparity

Even with the U$D dropping and the Au$$ie being near equal [ $1 AUD buys $0.963595 USD], the Q6600 ranges in AUD price $210.00 to $575.00 at 59 stores (shopbot)
Thus the aussie range is $202.35 to $554.06

Petrol is going down too
the west may not invade Iran then?
