Sony unveil performing entertainment system

Rolly will dance into stores soon

SONY HAS ROLLED out its latest innovation – a dancing entertainment system.

Yes, as bizarre as it sounds this is actually true. 'Rolly' is palm sized and is able to spin and dance to the rhythm of music which can be heard from all over the room.

Rolly has six moving parts made up of wheels, arms and shoulders which work in unison with two rings of light emitting 700 different colors.

Andreas Ditter, President, Audio Marketing Europe said, "Sony has always captivated its customers by creating products that merge technologies and push the boundaries of innovation and we are encouraged to see the amount of interest evoked by Rolly."

The device can store over 520 songs as it has 2GB of built-in flash memory, its battery life is five hours playing time and four with motion as well, and also has Bluetooth which enables the user to stream music from a computer or mobile phone.

Sony believes this is great as it is so unique – but have they gone too far? The controls on this contraption are motion activated, meaning to change track or volume you have to turn the wheels and to put into shuffle mode you have to shake it – is it just us that think this is a recipe for disaster?

To add to the confusion the machine is loaded with software called 'Rolly Choreographer' which gives it its dance moves, users can then make up their own routines from the performing Rolly to present.

Rolly will be available in both black and white from selected stores across Europe from October 2008.

SEX TOY?

I do believe that Robins EGG Blue or cream yellow would be far superior to black. Ahso, as dance is so often form of foreplay, errr....

Some nice egg colorings & designs around middle might help too. Seems perfect shape.

I like it

I like it ... it's a nice toy. You have a point in saying that it's a recipe for disaster, but it depends on how well the software for the movement editing is made, how easy to use for a non-tech person is ( not that a non-tech person would buy it ). But overall it's an original device that may, one day, put a smile on your face and make you think "You know what? I wouldn't kill myself after all!".
... oh yeah and I would pay anything under 40 £ for it.

bit late...

Under 40? You'll be lucky - we saw these in Sony's tokyo building a few months ago and they were going for more like 180-200. They are very cool though in the flesh (so to speak), ended up just standing watching it go - there's something about them that just makes people smile.

Looks like one for the single lady,

to keep her smiling while listening to her favourite tunes at bed time.

I wonder how it will vibrate to Chef's "Suck on my salty chocolate balls"?
