Intel acquires Openedhand
Shifts focus to Linux on Atom
INTEL HAS snapped up a British company that specialises in mobile Linux development and services.
OpenedHand will now shift its focus to creating a Linux stack for Intel's Atom processors utilising Moblin's development kit. The software will reportedly be optimized for low-power Netbooks and various other "mobile Internet devices”.
The chip-making giant has vowed to continue its support for current Openedhand projects such as Clutter (used to create GUI's) and Matchbox, an open-source based environment for the X Window System.
Openedhand's pre-sale client list included Nokia, One Laptop Per Child, Openmoko, iRex, Access, ST Microelectronics and Vernier. µ

I'm soliciting donations to a "Chairs for Steve Ballmer" fund. Anybody want to contribute?a GUI named Clutter?
Looks like they're trying to kill it right out of the gate. Makes you wonder if they're only pretending to support open source.Wow- could intel Castrate Atom any more?
First, a highly restrictive closed platform, and now a different operating system. They'll definitely succeed in keeping atom from cannibalizing celeron sales, because it just won't sell as a linux box
