Oracle acquires ClearApp

Enterprise Manager integration expected

ORACLE HAS CONTINUED its compulsive acquisition streak by snapping up software maker ClearApp.

The Mountain View company specializes in SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) and designs products to effectively gauge the performance of integrated applications.

ClearApp's software is currently compatible with Oracle’s Enterprise Manager product line and IBM’s middleware product, WebSphere.

According to Leng Leng Tan of Oracle, ClearApp will be integrated into the Enterprise Manager product family and is expected to help customers "maximize service availability while reducing IT operations costs".

It should be noted that Oracle purchased a total of 11 companies in 2007 and seven in 2008 – including middleware heavyweight BEA Systems for a staggering $8.5 billion.
