Itunes 8 goes Hi Def

Bye bye bandwidth

THE NEXT VERSION OF Apple's Itunes software will include high definition video downloads according to a leak reported by Digg main man, Kevin Rose.

Rumours are also rife about new Ipods and even a refresh of the Macbook marque, although none of these whispers of things to come have any substance beyond conjecture.

The rumours are based on a secretive event Apple is hosting next week, so something is in the works, just it seems that no-one knows quite what.

Other new features expected to appear in Itunes, which were revealed when a section of the release notes were leaked, include a playlist suggestion system called, in typical self-deprecating Apple style, 'Genius' mode.

The software will automagically create playlists based on previous purchases and the style of music listened to in the past and suggest songs that 'go great together'. Kind of like a soppy mix tape sent with love from Saint Steve.

As usual, don't expect any of this stuff to hit the UK until at least three months after the rest of the world has got bored with the whole thing and moved on.

C'mon Steve... throw us a bone why dontcha?! µ

Idea

On the one hand the author is derisive and on the other hand complaining it doesn't arrive sooner, perhaps some self-reflection can be done during that delay?

itool?

Itunes sucks. commercials you don't want, offers you will never accept & annoying interface.

The answer?

Floola --> http://www.floola.com/modules/wiwimod/

That is what you want.

Why?

Amongst other things, it allows you to copy files from the iPod BACK to the PC with no fuss.

(Among a few other reasons.)

Fail.

So they can manage hi-def video but are still pushing sub-standard audio? It would be nice if they could get up to CD-quality... afterall, it's been around for 25yrs. We should be on multi-channel 24bit/96kHz by now, not lossy 16bit files with DRM.

Yet again Apple panders to buzzwords and fails to deliver on substance.
