Sony launches PCs for three different rooms
Unexplosive, hopefully
SONY YESTERDAY decided to announce three new all-in-one, Blue Ray inclusive PCs at Denver’s CEDIA show.
The three new Vaios, the JS, LV and RT, seem to have been designed with three specifically different usage models in mind, with the JS acting as ‘ye old bog standard PC’, the LV aimed at replacing the TV in the living room, and the RT focused on multimedia fanatics who want to edit their own epic movies on their computers.
Sony’s main selling point for its new baby Vaios, of course, is the screen. Whilst the lower ended JS comes with a 20.1 inch Xbrite-Eco display, the LV gets a diagonal 24 inch Wuxga display and the yuppy magnet RT comes complete with a ginormous 25.5-inch diagonal LCD. No size complex there.
As far as features are concerned, the $1000 JS boasts integrated microphone and Webcam along with “face-tracking technology” which the company claims can track a user’s movements. The Television replacing $1600 LV comes with 1080p HDMI input, an integrated wireless LAN and power supply, and Windows Home for those who are sensible enough to not want Vista.
The top end RT – which will apparently cost about $3,300 – brags a built in digital TV tuner, a Core 2 Quad processor, 8 Gbytes of RAM and a terabyte hard drive. The RT, though, only comes with Windows Vista Ultimate. But you can buy it in Pink, so there’s an incentive if ever we heard one.
The firm no doubt hoping its latest offerings don't catch fire, after the recall it announced yesterday caused it share price to suffer a spectacular four per cent slump. µ

Does the garden variety come with a Sony rootkit?Vista Ultimate
"only comes with Vista ultimate"bag of sh*t then, can you imagine having to reboot due to updates or crashes just as the cliff hanger in your favourite soap is coming?
Using this with vista ultimate is like putting perfume on a turd.
This will ensure it isn't successfull. So when Windows 7 comes out do you have to buy a new TV?
Given sony's experience with Linux, why didn't they put Ubuntu or some other useful OS on it, but not ,cough spit, Vista are they MAD?????
