Samsung is going for Sandisk
Rumour mill pushes Samdisk
THE DARK satanic rumour mill claims that Samsung is pretty much certain to buy US computer memory card maker Sandisk.
The rumours are coming from South Korea rather than the US. Samsung and Sandisk neither confirmed nor denied the report. But Sandisk's shares climbed more than 31 per cent on the back of the news.
Samsung spokesman James Chung last week confirmed that his outfit is " considering various opportunities regarding Sandisk," but said nothing had been decided.
Sandisk said that it often chatted to people about potential buyouts, as you do. It is not just talking to Samsung, but other companies too.
According to AP, Samsung apparently chose J.P. Morgan as an adviser for the acquisition about a month ago.
Samsung supplies NAND flash memory chips to Sandisk which is the world's largest supplier of flash storage card products. µ
